5 Ridiculous Myths About Cow’s Milk

Despite its pure, innocent, and creamy exterior, milk has a much darker side and one that the dairy industry doesn’t want you finding out about.

Milk is much more than just a drink, it is a cultural phenomenon that can be traced back thousands of years, but despite all the research proving milk to be detrimental to both our own lives and the lives of the cows, the milk myths still ring loud and clear.

Myth 1 – You Need Cow’s Milk to Get Calcium

Like it or not, milk is not the best source of calcium.  It may be hard to believe but the calcium contained in cow’s milk is barely absorbable to the human body.

Thankfully, a milk-free diet won’t leave you deprived of calcium. The most calcium-rich foods on the planet comes from plants, especially leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and broccoli.

Myth 2 – Cow’s Milk Will Give You Strong Bones

Much along the same lines as we need cow’s milk to get calcium, we are also told that cow’s milk is how we get nice, strong, and healthy bones. Unfortunately, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, this ridiculous myth is so dangerous that I can’t believe marketers are allowed to get away with it.

Research has proven that milk actually depletes calcium from our bones and increases fracture risk, which is why the countries with the highest rate of osteoporosis are the ones where people drink the most milk!

Myth 3 – Cow’s Milk Isn’t Cruel

No amount of cute celebrities sporting milk moustaches can hide from the ugly side of the dairy industry. Calves are taken away from their mothers within hours of being born where they are fed milk substitutes and often sold as veal calves after spending months chained at the neck unable to walk, stretch their legs, and even turn around.

Mother cows are also forced to endure needless suffering and cruelty. The stress caused by poor conditions on factory farms leads to lameness, disease, and reproductive problems rendering them useless at just 4-5 years old (their natural lifespan is 25 years) at which time they are sent to slaughter.

Myth 4 – Cows Need to be Milked

For some reason, the whole world is walking around under the illusion that cows need to be milked otherwise their udders will explode, in other words by milking them we are actually doing them a favor. This myth is a downright lie.

Cows only produce milk to feed their young. If they don’t have babies, they don’t make milk. Simple. To keep cows lactating, farmers impregnate them through artificial insemination once a year. This traumatic process is carried out by constraining cows in what is known by the industry as a “rape rack.”

Myth 5 – Cow’s Milk is for Humans

No one can dispute that cow’s milk is an excellent food source…for calves. This incredible food is essential to baby calves in their first few months of life, but once weaned they will never drink milk again, and that’s the same for every mammalian species on the planet. Which is why it makes no sense for us humans to be drinking it.

As if that’s not reason enough, cow’s milk contains an average of three times the amount of protein than human milk, contributing to a variety of illness and disease. That might be the incentive you need to help you ditch the dairy.

Wisdom Teeth Dental Scam & Why You Need Your Wisdom Teeth


The truth is, I am writing this article about the importance of wisdom teeth while all of mine have been extracted. They have been gone for years. I am pretty sure many of yours have been long gone as well. I didn’t know any better. We trust our dentists to do the best job possible while often not even questioning their methods. I should’ve questioned and should’ve researched myself. But now I can share my research and finding with you so you can make the decisions for yourself and not just listen to your dentist just because he tells you so.  Many of us have been told that wisdom teeth need to be extracted just because they are not really needed. According to the dentists, they are just unnecessary teeth that just inconveniently crowd out mouths.

What are wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth, also called the Third Molars, are the furthest back teeth. They usually come in when you are in your late teens or early twenties.  According to a report published  in the American Journal of Public Health, more than 67 % of preventative wisdom teeth removals are unnecessary. Out of 10 million wisdom teeth extractions in America each year, only 20 proved to be necessary. You have to understand that the old tale about wisdom teeth causing all kind of illnesses, is simply not true. Let’s look at it realistically, it’s a big money maker (around a billion dollars a year) for the dental industry.

In the 1900s, Dr. Weston A. Price did extensive research on the connection between oral health and diseases. He discovered native tribes, with their traditional diets, that were almost 100 percent free of tooth decay. He came to the conclusion that dental and overall health lie in nutrition. Fortunately, this discovery is practiced by holistic dentists nowadays whom understand that when you supply enough nutrients to the jaw bone during its development, all 32 teeth will have proper space in your mouth without crowding. This means that proper nutrition is the key behind trouble free wisdom teeth.

Dr. Weston Price also discovered that once these tribes started consuming sugar and white flour, their perfect healthy teeth, quickly deteriorated.

Why You Need Your Wisdom Teeth

Our teeth are vital, living organs within and connected to the body as a whole. Wisdom teeth are connected (according to acupuncture meridians) to our small intestine and the front of our pituitary gland.  In fact, 46 percent of the motor and sensory nerves in your brain’s cerebral cortex are interconnected to your mouth and face.  So any time a tooth is removed, it disturbs and breaks an acupuncture meridian that flows through the area of that tooth.  The meridian acupuncture system, known in Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than 5000 years, shows the vital relationship between your teeth and your  joints,  spinal segments, vertebrae, organs and endocrine glands.

Wisdom teeth extractions can be dangerous.

Did you know that between 57,000 and 175,000 people after wisdom teeth extractions  have had permanent tingling, prickling or numbness caused by nerve damage. This, again, proves the point that all of our teeth are connected via nervous system pathways to every part of our body.  Though it is a common surgery for a lot of  Americans, wisdom tooth extraction involves very serious risks which can lead to sudden death. (here)

 So for all these reasons, I do not recommend removing wisdom teeth unless there is a good reason to do so. According to Jay Friedman, a California-based dental consultant, more than two-thirds of all wisdom tooth extractions are medically unnecessary, and that most patients would be perfectly fine if they just left their wisdom teeth alone.

Taking Statins? Beware!

Sometimes blind faith leads to a disaster, sometimes a miracle.

Where will you end up?

If you’re one of the millions of people diagnosed with high cholesterol, you will more than likely be given a prescription “statin” pill. It’s easier to take a statin, truly I get it, it’s hard to control diet and to exercise and to live a life of limitations after all this time. Now, let’s get back to the statins, these work well to reduce cholesterol:
-Lovastatin for Mevacor
-Atorvastatin for Lipitor
-Pravastatin for Pravachol
-Fluvastatin for Lescol
-Simvastatin for Zocor
-Pitavastatin for Livalo
-Rosuvastatin for Crestor
-Others in combination form

What do they do?

Statins affect many pathways in the body. They are strong anti-inflammatories, so strong that they are being tested for their use in cancer patients! As for cholesterol reduction, they work by crushing a natural enzyme in your body that would otherwise allow you to make your own cholesterol.

Statins do not suck out gooey cholesterol from your arteries, nor does it negate cheese fries. 

No, these drugs merely suppress new production of cholesterol. Here’s where blind faith (take this pill and you’ll feel better) collides with scientific research.

This year a study was published (in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology), entitled,

Statins stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure: pharmacological mechanisms. Repeat: “Statins stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure.” Whoa!

The researchers concluded, “The epidemic of heart failure and atherosclerosis that plagues the modern world may paradoxically be aggravated by the pervasive use of statin drugs.” What an irony! The problem is that many other studies have found similar disastrous effects on the heart. It has to do with mitochondrial dysfunction, which means that the little generators in your heart cells get sick.

Your heart is a very high energy muscle. It requires thriving, mitochondria in order to churn out ATP, your energy molecule. Statins are toxic to mitochondria because they deplete coenzyme Q10 which is needed for healthy mitochondria. Statins also deplete a special protein called “Heme A” that totes oxygen and iron to your heart. The long-term depletion interrupts ATP production and leads to cellular fatigue among other major problems. You cannot survive long-term without adequate ATP production so it needs to be restored. Fatigue, cramps, muscle weakness, memory loss, depression, cancer … you must have ATP in your body or else! (Biting my lip)

Statins inhibit the biosynthesis of vitamin K2 which we manufacture if we have healthy intestinal gut flora.

Do you?

I don’t know anyone who has a perfect gut. K2 also comes from fermented veggies. It protects our arteries from calcium plaques or atherosclerosis. Without enough K2, statin-induced or not, we are compromised. (Eyes rolling now).

Today, we know statins block very special, powerful selenium-containing proteins known as selenoproteins, the most famous of those is called glutathione peroxidase, which protects muscle tissue from free radical damage (oxidation).

What’s the busiest muscle in your body? It has to work 24/7. It’s your heart! (Smacks forehead).

Your heart muscle cells are ‘burned’ form all the oxidation (due to the impairment of selenoprotein biosynthesis) and this is a factor in congestive heart failure. This reminds me of Keshan’s disease which is heart failure due to low selenium.

If you have to take statins, please use the lowest dose possible. Be diligent about putting back the nutrients that statins interfere with such as the coenzyme Q10, selenium, and vitamin K2, along with other heart healthy nutrients. There are exceptions to taking these nutrients so ask your doctor (yes, the same one that gave you the statin.)

This is a classic case of drug mugging, and I hope you will consider replenishing some of the affected nutrients, especially if you have uncomfortable or new symptoms.  I wrote about this in my book, Drug Muggers.  Remember to talk to your physician about dosages of these vitamins, because it is highly individual; dosages vary from person to person based upon age, sex, weight, kidney or liver function, even genetic SNPs and much more.  Also, keep in mind how important nutrients are in your body. Your body runs on the essentials, it does not run because of medication. As an example, if you have low levels of a natural B vitamin (folate) then you cannot properly methylation. Made in China: Why You Shouldn’t Eat Tilapia!


There is a major rise in the United States in the popularity of cheap seafood from abroad.  While there is nothing wrong with some smoked salmon produced in Norway, other types of fish that enter the country are not as healthy as people believe them to be.  One of the biggest growing sales of fish in the US belongs to fish like tilapia, basa and swai.  With cheap price tags this fish seems like a great deal, but there may be more to it.


The first issue with these fish is how they are produced.  Tilapia, basa and swai are all fresh water fish.  Tilapia variants can be found in fresh water bodies throughout the world.  Basa and swai on the other hand are found in the Mekong River in Vietnam.  All of these fish variants have very small wild caught industries, but they are used primarily for local markets at their point of origin.  The majority of exported fish of these variants comes from commercial farming in South East Asia, primarily from nations like China, Vietnam and the Philippines.  All of these fish are mass-produced in crowded aquaculture tanks and are fed soy-based foods, if they are lucky.  Being bottom feeders and filter feeders these fish will consume any waste or contaminants that enter the water, and I mean anything.  I am going to let your imagination take over for that one.  In order to keep the fish alive until harvest they are continuously fed antibiotics in order to thwart off disease that can kill the entire stock.  Sure there is organic production of tilapia in the US, but it consists of less than 1% of all tilapia sold in the US.  It is also nearly impossible to recognize US produced tilapia unless properly labeled as such.


There is one bright side to its production though.  In order to pass FDA inspection for US import, all processing plants that eventually fillet and package the fish must be near spotless.  I have seen how some of their production facilities and how their sanitization protocols are treated and I have been impressed.  Not only do they follow every regulation to the letter, but also they take action to sanitize their facility above & beyond the FDA demands.  Let’s be honest though; after being fed antibiotics all its life, the cleanliness of the processing facilities only helps to keep the situation from being any worse and does not improve on everything that these fish lack.


Health wise, seafood can be some of the best things to add to your diet.  It is a well-known fact that by eating salmon at least 2 times a week you can reduce your risk of cancer and heart disease.  Yet even with that information, there are serious outliers.  Let us start with tilapia.  Tilapia is pretty much the complete opposite of salmon when it comes to your health.  Tilapia is loaded with omega-6 fatty acids, which firstly we already eat too much of in our society.  Omega-6 in excess can cause and exacerbate inflammation so much that it makes bacon look heart healthy.  Inflammation can lead to heart disease and can exacerbate symptoms for people who suffer from asthma and arthritis.


Swai and basa on the other hand have their own set of problems.  Often called pangasius, are actually iridescent sharks.  They are commonly found in smaller sizes sold as aquarium fish at pet stores, but that does not cover all of the issues.  First of all, nearly all of these fish are produced on the Mekong River in aquaculture facilities.  The Mekong River is one of the most polluted rivers in the world, and there is no regulation to filter the water used in these facilities.  This can cause heightened levels of heavy metals and toxins from the polluted water.  Both fish are not fed anything close to their natural food.  They are fed food pellets made from fish remains (often swai and basa remains) mixed with soy and antibiotics.  They are also treated without regulation with growth hormones to make them profitable much faster.  These fish are also linked to many cases of food poisoning due to contamination from their point of origin.  There is no production of such fish in the US or outside South East Asia.


For many it can be very tempting to buy fish when it costs $2 per Lbs. at the supermarket, especially when money is tight.  But do not forget, that by eating these species of fish, you are often damaging your health.  Saving a couple dollars today may cost you thousands in medical bills tomorrow.  We usually do not make direct recommendations and usually ask that you make your own judgments.  We highly recommend that you do not eat these fish.  It says allot when we would eat a big mac before touching tilapia, swai or basa.  Think of your health before your wallet the next time you are at the store or are eating out.  Do not eat tilapia, swai or basa!
